Story

EMPOWER200 Project

Enhancing Malawian Potential Online through Workforce, Enterprise & Resource Skills (Empower)

EMPOWER200 is a transformative digital inclusion initiative by Ifumbo Youth Organization (IYO) designed to equip 200 Malawian youth with essential ICT and digital literacy skills needed to succeed in today’s technology-driven economy.

In many communities across Malawi, just like in T/A Mwaulambia within Chitipa district, talented and motivated young people remain excluded from opportunity—not because they lack ambition, but because they lack access to digital tools and training. EMPOWER200 seeks to close this gap.

Through a strategic partnership with Computer Aid International, IYO has secured 20 donated computers. The current fundraising effort will cover the USD 10,000 (MK20, 000, 000) associated costs required to receive, install, and operationalize this equipment so it can serve as a sustainable digital learning hub.

These 20 computers will directly train 200 youth in:

  • ICT fundamentals

  • Digital literacy and online safety

  • Basic coding and productivity software

  • Online job search and freelancing skills

  • Digital entrepreneurship and innovation

The impact extends beyond technical skills. Participants will gain improved employability, confidence, access to online income opportunities, and the ability to participate meaningfully in the global digital economy.

EMPOWER200 is not simply about providing computers—it is about unlocking potential, bridging the digital divide, and building a generation of digitally empowered young leaders.

Every contribution brings these machines to life and moves 200 young people from digital exclusion to digital opportunity.
